LAWfm was established in June 2010 and provide more than the usual IFA service . This is because we are Discretionary Investment Managers and also provide financial advice. We aim to provide effective investment management and financial planning on behalf of our clients and in line with their objectives and aspirations. LAWfm believes that the best growth strategy is to provide a high level service that encourages existing clients to recommend us to their friends, colleagues and family. Our team have managed investments on a discretionary basis since 1994 and have provided comprehensive financial advice for 25 years. Our management team spent nearly a decade as senior investment manager and operations manager at one of the largest law firms in the UK.

Investment Managers and Financial Planners

Marcus Warburton
Marcus WarburtonManaging Director
Marcus has been in the industry since 1989 when he first qualified whilst still at university. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
Marcus is the Managing Director of Leo Alexander Wealth and Financial Management. He founded the firm in 2010 after a successful 20-year career and is delighted to have been joined by number of former colleagues. He is the firms lead investment manager and also provides expert financial advice to clients.
Inside work Marcus will usually tell you that he is only interested in either making money for clients or saving tax for clients, but outside of work, he coaches a youth football team now in its 5th year, was a trustee of his local playgroup for a decade and when pushed he will admit to building kit cars as a hobby, though, no-one has ever seen one on the road….yet.
Patrick Johnston
Patrick JohnstonFinancial Planner
Patrick’s career in financial services, which started in 1979 has seen him work as an advisor for several leading life assurance companies as well as an IFA for a national firm of chartered accountants and a leading law firm. He later set up his own IFA practice in the West Midlands which he merged into LAWfm in 2014.

He has given financial advice on BBC local radio, co-authored a financial advice column in a regional newspaper and planned and spoken at many financial planning seminars for public sector bodies including local government employees and the Fire Service.

As an IFA, Patrick deals primarily with the financial planning needs of individual clients. In addition to advising on their protection, investment and pension needs, Patrick is also authorised to advise on Long Term Care and Care Fees planning (usually for elderly clients), as well as Wills, Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney for clients of all ages.

Patrick has seen many changes in legislation and best practice throughout his time in financial services, but by concentrating on providing clear and straightforward advice he has built up a loyal group of clients, some of whom date back to the first few months of his career.

Away from work, Patrick particularly enjoys watching football, motor sport and professional cycling. He has been happily married for more than 40 years and has two daughters and two granddaughters. He is also a member of Rotary International, whose motto is Service above Self.

William Wells
William WellsFinancial Planner
Bill Wells has acquired an exceptional breadth of knowledge of financial planning issues during his 25 years as an IFA. Prior to becoming a financial adviser, Bill was a commissioned technical training officer in the Royal Air Force. It is perhaps this background which has helped Bill to achieve Chartered Financial Planner status and evidence his in-depth understanding of numerous financial services’ sub-topics, from tax planning and investment advice to family protection and specialist pensions knowledge.

Bill is also a qualified mortgage adviser with further qualifications in equity release and long term care issues. It might be worth mentioning that Bill has intimate knowledge of several State sector pension schemes, in particular the NHS and Armed Forces schemes.

Anthony Roddis
Anthony RoddisFinancial Adviser
Tony joined Leo Alexander Wealth; Financial Management as an Independent Financial Advisor in January 2020 after working a number of years in various roles within the Financial Services Industry. Tony has worked hard to obtain a BA Hons in Economics; Policy as well as a MSc. in the Economics of Money, Banking & Finance. He prides himself on his strong work ethic which is demonstrated by obtaining his MSc. whilst still working full time. Tony is qualified to provide Investment, Pensions; Protection advice.

Outside of work, he is a keen cricketer and spends his Saturday’s in the summer months donning the whites and gracing the area’s cricket fields. He is a self-professed know-it-all of the sport and believes his call up for Yorkshire and England are long overdue.

Joseph Tighe
Joseph TigheTrainee Financial Adviser
Joseph joined Leo Alexander as a Trainee IFA in January 2020 after graduating from the University of St Andrews, where he read Management and Economics. Whilst at university, Joseph was active in several societies and most notably served as Secretary of the St Andrews Economics Society. He is currently studying towards the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning through the Chartered Insurance Institute and has a keen interest in investment management and the financial markets. He is eager to immerse himself in the world of finance and committed to providing excellent client service.

Outside of work, Joseph is interested in current affairs, politics, history, and modern classic cars – particularly German models of the 80s and 90s. At weekends he is likely to be found toying with his ever-expanding fleet of ‘projects’.

Charlotte Macartney
Charlotte MacartneyParaplanner
Charlotte began working in the financial services industry in 2011 and joined Leo Alexander Wealth and Financial Management in January 2019 as a Paraplanner. She works closely with the Financial Planners providing both technical and administration support with the aim of delivering the best possible service to clients and prides herself on her attention to detail and strong organisation skills. She is studying towards her Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning through the Chartered Insurance Institute.

In her spare time Charlotte enjoys walking in the Peak District, socialising and eating out.

Nicola Duffey
Nicola DuffeyOperations and Compliance Manager
Nicola has over 20 years’ experience in Operations and Compliance starting her career at Norwich Union (now known as Aviva), progressing her skills with Halifax (now HBOS) and Irwin Mitchell/IM Asset Management. She came to work at Leo Alexander Wealth & Financial Management Limited in 2011, having helped with the set-up of the company on a consultancy basis since June 2010. She has experience in running and closing nominee companies and the safe custody of assets, ISA Management and Reporting, compliance monitoring, project management and risk and compliance policy work.

In addition to her administration management work she is Compliance Officer and MLRO for the company. Nicola is a Chartered member of the Chartered Investments and Securities Institute and in her spare time she enjoys motorsport, holidays and reading with her book club.

Eleanor Schofield
Eleanor Schofield Administration Assistant
Before joining Leo Alexander Wealth and Financial Management Ltd, Eleanor studied at Stocksbridge High School. After completing her GCSE exams, she has been involved with Wentworth Castle, volunteering in their archive department. Eleanor is enjoying her apprenticeship with LAWfm and is currently attending college to develop her skills. Eleanor has recently completed an NVQ qualification in Business Administration and is keen to further her education through more college and work-based qualifications.

During Eleanor’s spare time, she likes listening to music, and has just become interested in scrapbooking.

Josephine Chapman
Josephine ChapmanAdministration Assistant
Josephine joined Leo Alexander Wealth and Financial Management Limited in February 2017 as part of the administration team. With over 20 years’ experience as a book keeper, Josephine manages the accounts of the business. She has a keen eye for monitoring and completing work to required standards, within deadlines.

In her spare time, she loves walking her dog, Noggin, and regularly organizes dance events in her local area.

Lauren Vardy
Lauren VardyParaplanner
Lauren’s experience in the financial services industry began 4 years ago and has delivered excellent customer service throughout her roles in pensions administration and paraplanning. She is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and is keen to continue studying towards her Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. Lauren likes all aspects of her role as a paraplanner from speaking to clients right through to product research, her experience from previous roles allows her to perform with self-confidence and ability.

Outside of work Lauren enjoys socialising, shopping and attending football matches for her chosen team Sheffield Wednesday.
