About Leo Alexander

LAWfm was established in June 2010 and provide more than the usual IFA service . This is because we are Discretionary Investment Managers and also provide financial advice. We aim to provide effective investment management and financial planning on behalf of our clients and in line with their objectives and aspirations.

LAWfm believes that the best growth strategy is to provide a high level service that encourages existing clients to recommend us to their friends, colleagues and family. Our team have managed investments on a discretionary basis since 1994 and have provided comprehensive financial advice for 25 years.

Our Senior Investment Manager spent nearly a decade at one of the largest law firms in the UK.

Investment Managers and Financial Planners

Marcus Warburton

Managing Director

Marcus has been in the industry since 1989 when he first qualified whilst still at university. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Marcus is the Managing Director of Leo Alexander Wealth and Financial Management. He founded the firm in 2010 after a successful 20-year career and is delighted to have been joined by number of former colleagues. He is the firms lead investment manager and also provides expert financial advice to clients.

Inside work Marcus will usually tell you that he is only interested in either making money for clients or saving tax for clients, but outside of work, he coaches a youth football team now in its 5th year, was a trustee of his local playgroup for a decade and when pushed he will admit to building kit cars as a hobby, though, no-one has ever seen one on the road….yet. 

Patrick Johnston

Financial Planner

Patrick’s career in financial services, which started in 1979 has seen him work as an advisor for several leading life assurance companies as well as an IFA for a national firm of chartered accountants and a leading law firm. He later set up his own IFA practice in the West Midlands which he merged into LAWfm in 2014.
He has given financial advice on BBC local radio, co-authored a financial advice column in a regional newspaper and planned and spoken at many financial planning seminars for public sector bodies including local government employees and the Fire Service.

As an IFA, Patrick deals primarily with the financial planning needs of individual clients. In addition to advising on their protection, investment and pension needs, Patrick is also authorised to advise on Long Term Care and Care Fees planning (usually for elderly clients), as well as Wills, Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney for clients of all ages.

Patrick has seen many changes in legislation and best practice throughout his time in financial services, but by concentrating on providing clear and straightforward advice he has built up a loyal group of clients, some of whom date back to the first few months of his career.

Away from work, Patrick particularly enjoys watching football, motor sport and professional cycling. He has been happily married for more than 40 years and has two daughters and two granddaughters. He is also a member of Rotary International, whose motto is Service above Self. 

William Wells

Financial Planner

Bill Wells has acquired an exceptional breadth of knowledge of financial planning issues during his 25 years as an IFA. Prior to becoming a financial adviser, Bill was a commissioned technical training officer in the Royal Air Force. It is perhaps this background which has helped Bill to achieve Chartered Financial Planner status and evidence his in-depth understanding of numerous financial services’ sub-topics, from tax planning and investment advice to family protection and specialist pensions knowledge.
Bill is also a qualified mortgage adviser with further qualifications in equity release and long term care issues. It might be worth mentioning that Bill has intimate knowledge of several State sector pension schemes, in particular the NHS and Armed Forces schemes.

Josephine Chapman

Administration Assistant

Josephine joined Leo Alexander Wealth and Financial Management Limited in February 2017 as part of the administration team. With over 20 years’ experience as a book keeper, Josephine manages the accounts of the business. She has a keen eye for monitoring and completing work to required standards, within deadlines.
In her spare time, she loves walking her dog, Noggin, and regularly organizes dance events in her local area.
